GB2 High Stability Gauge Buster Indicator

The GB2 High Stability Gauge Buster is a "close to" direct reading measurement indicator that can meet the portability, sensitivity, and stability demands for field use with strain gauge-based load cell instrumentation.

This indicator is recommended for rugged environments or when "close to" direct reading is good enough. The unit is set up with our signature 12-point calibration service and can be used for force applications such as calibrating Universal Tension Machines (UTM) in accordance with ASTM E4 as well as several other force measuring applications.

Note: This meter requires an isolated power source for optimal performance.

GB2 High Stability Gauge Buster

The GB2 High Stability Gauge Buster is an upgrade to our older line of Gauge Buster units. Software and hardware modifications have been performed to stabilize the GB2 unit, which makes it suitable for field use in not-so-great environments.

These upgrades reduce unwanted noise and drastically improve stability in airplane hangars, testing facilities, concrete laboratories, and places where the wall outlet power may be wavering.

If you have an older gauge buster with stability issues or want the ease of use of a simple-to-use display, an upgrade to a GB2 High Stability Gauge Buster may drastically improve your force measurements.

Features include:

  • ASTM Class A verified range of forces better than 4 % when paired with a Morehouse Precision Load Cell
  • Freeze hold cable to capture readings when using the "following the force" method
  • Software and hardware modifications to the original GB2 unit drastically improve stability and lowers noise.

  • Easy to change channels between multiple load cells  (typically 5 compression and tension load cells can be set up with any GB2 unit)
  • Rugged design for use in tough environments

Most load cells under 120,000 lbf capacity used with the GB2 High Stability Gauge Buster will be set up using 10 or more span points and with deadweights accurate to within 0.002 % of the applied force.

Both greatly improve the indicator's accuracy and reduce the measurement error and bias of most systems with fewer span points.

Suppose you require a meter that uses coefficients from an ISO 376 or ASTM E74 calibration. In that case, we recommend our 4215-Plus or C705P, as the gauge buster will drift from nominal and might require adjustments after the "As Found" or "As Received" calibration to read closer to nominal.

This adds increased costs, which both the 4215-Plus and the C705P only require the new coefficients from the calibration report to be entered to bring them back to nominal readings.

Morehouse calibration software allows readings from any number of Morehouse indicators that have a communication output (USB or serial). If multiple indicators are used, their values can be added together to show a total value. The software can do the unit conversion (between force units and mass units), and mass conversion, and adjust the resolution at the values shown, and much more!
